      What is a pathway?

      If you meet the academic entry requirements for a degree at The University of Tulsa (TU), but not the English requirements, you may be admitted to the University via a pathway program. You’ll take classes designed to raise your English proficiency on the University campus, with access to all the same facilities and resources as other TU students. By successfully completing your pathway program, you are guaranteed progression to your chosen TU degree.

      Can I enter a degree directly?

      If you meet all the academic and English language requirements of the University, we can help you apply for direct entry to any of the TU bachelor's degrees listed on page 5. Our education advisors are experts in the US admissions process, and will provide valuable support during your application.

      Quick guide to US undergraduate study

      Bachelor’s degrees

      Bachelor’s degrees include courses in your chosen “major” and a broad range of other subjects. It is common for students to change major in the 1st or 2nd year.

      Optional Practical Training (OPT)

      Optional Practical Training (OPT) is a visa benefit that allows international students to do paid work related to their degree in the USA after graduation.

      SAT and ACT

      SAT and ACT are standardized high school tests for undergraduate admission. However, international students are not required to take these tests when applying to TU.

      Popular TU events

      October: Homecoming

      Join TU alumni and other students for 5 days of fun, including the annual pep rally and bonfire, an exciting event featuring parades, music and fireworks. It's a great way to get everyone excited for the Homecoming American football game.

      November: International Night Market

      Experience the buzz of a street market on TU’s campus. Sample traditional foods from different countries, try to win prizes, and watch a lively parade of international music and dance.

      December: Festival of Lessons and Carols

      A campus favorite, this event features readings by TU faculty and students, and traditional Christmas songs by the Cappella Chamber Singers.

      March / April: Springfest

      Taking place between Spring Break and final exams, Springfest is a full week of music, free food and fun activities.

      Warm welcome

      TU’s new student orientation will help you get off to the best start possible. You’ll meet key faculty and staff mentors, and also learn about important organizations and resources on campus. In some cases, you can attend a 2-day session designed especially for international students, where you’ll learn how to adjust to a US university. There’s also plenty of time for you to have fun: activity retreats, an athletics rally, and an outdoor dance party, to name just a few!

      Get involved

      No matter what your interests are, you’ll find a welcoming community at TU. With 200 student organizations, there are many ways to make friends and participate in campus life. The Association of International Students has almost 500 members from over 70 countries. Students can also attend weekly on-campus ministries for Jewish, Muslim and several Christian faiths.

      Enjoy sports

      Take a break from your studies at the well-equipped Fulton and Susie Collins Fitness Center, which includes 3 basketball courts, a workout area with more than 200 pieces of exercise equipment, a game room and an indoor running track. You can join one of the campus recreational leagues, or watch any of the University’s 17 Division I sports teams compete on campus for free using your TU student ID!

      Though you will find lots of events and activities on campus, there’s also lots to see and do in the city of Tulsa. This includes amusement parks, museums, concert halls, boutique shops and delicious local and international foods. The city also has over 135 parks and 50 miles of scenic trails for biking and running. Tulsa’s warm southern climate allows you to enjoy these outdoor activities all year round.
